Cultivating Connections

I wear a lot of hats. I’m a mother, a wife, an award-winning theater artist, and a spiritual director.

Regardless of the hat I’m wearing, I am driven by a desire to explore connections between people and places. In my work as a theater artist and as the founder of Cry Havoc Theater Company, I have led teams of young artists in the creation of original plays about some of the most challenging issues today. For Babel, we traveled across the country to interview parents who lost their children in a mass school shooting, and then to the NRA convention to talk with gun-rights activists. For Crossing the Line, we visited the Texas/Mexico border to interview migrants waiting to cross over, migrant teenagers held in a detention center, and the ICE agents responsible for child-separations. These original plays and others have generated connection, conversation, and compassion in Dallas and beyond.

While I continue to make theater I am also completing a Master of Divinity degree and a certificate in Spiritual Direction at Southern Methodist University to deepen my practice of cultivating experiences for individuals to practice the soul-work of consciously connecting with one another.
